DAVID RIO RECIPES
HorChaiTa
As a tribute to our partners in Mexico, we've created our own version of the traditional horchata, a refreshing Mexican beverage made with spices and rice milk.
1 cup (185 g) uncooked white long-grain rice
5 cups (1200 ml) water
1/2 cup (280 g) Tortoise Green Tea™ Chai
Combine rice and water in a blender. Blend until the rice just begins to break up, about 1 minute. Let rice and water stand at room temperature for a minimum of 3 hours.
Strain the rice mixture into a pitcher, reserving the liquid and discarding the solids. Stir chai into the rice liquid until dissolved. Chill and stir before serving over ice. If desired, garnish with Matcha powder.
Makes 4 servings.
