Recipe of the Season


David Rio Power Chai® Banana Bread with Walnuts
Ingredients
1/3 C David Rio Power Chai®
2 Very ripe bananas, mashed 1/3 C Buttermilk
1/4 C Sugar
1 Egg plus 1 egg yolk
1 1/4 C Flour
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1/2 C Canola Oil
1/2 C Roasted Walnuts (275F 10~15 mins)
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9-in. x 5-in. x 3-in. loaf pan. (If you are making mini loaves, this recipe will make 3 mini loaves.)
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. Then whisk the Power Chai®, oil, buttermilk, vanilla, egg and egg yolk in a medium bowl until smooth.
3. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients and whisk until well combined. Then add mashed bananas and whisk gently to combine. Finally, add walnuts and mix thoroughly.
4. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 60-65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the loaf comes out clean. Let cool for 30 minutes before slicing. (Mini version takes about 40 minutes to bake.)

David Rio Flamingo Cherry Vanilla Float
1.Prepare a concentrate of Flamingo Vanilla Sugar-Free chai and allow to cool. Use 3 tablespoons of chai, and mix with 4oz of hot water or milk - then once cooled, add 2 tablespoons of the concentrate to a tall glass.
2.Add one or two scoops of nonfat frozen vanilla yogurt to the glass.
3.Pour half a can of your favorite zero-calorie cherry soda on top. It will fizz a lot, so add slowly.
4.Top with a fresh cherry! Enjoy with friends and family.

David Rio Salted Caramel Chai Bread
Ingredients
1/2 C David Rio chai (we used Power Chai®)
1/2 C Butter or Margarine (Softened)
4/5 C Sugar
2 Eggs
1 C Buttermilk
1 1/2 C Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Salt
Garnish with Caramel Sauce & Sprinkled Salt
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the flour, chai, salt, baking powder and baking soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
2. Pour into a greased 9-in. x 5-in. x 3-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 (or 35-40 for small size) minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
3. When bread is done, drizzle caramel sauce on top of bread and sprinkle salt.

David Rio Salted Caramel Chai Latte
1.Prepare a cup of hot chai.
2.Add a shot of Salted Caramel syrup and a pinch of salt.
3.Stir and enjoy.
 (David Rio suggests using your favorite Salted Caramel Syrup for best results.)

David Rio Pumpkin Chai Latte
1.Prepare a cup of hot chai.
2.Add a shot of Pumpkin syrup.
3.Stir and enjoy.

Hot Chai Recipes

Basic Hot Chai
1.Add 3-4 Tablespoons of David Rio chai to 7 ounces of hot water (or milk).
2.Stir and enjoy.
 (For coffeehouse preparation, we recommend adding David Rio chai to hot water, mix well,
then add steamed milk heated by the steam wand on the espresso machine)

Hot chai with Italian syrup
1.Prepare a cup of hot chai.
2.Add a shot of your favorite syrup.
3.Stir and enjoy.
 (Try with orange, blueberry, hazelnut, chocolate)

Chai with Espresso
1.Make a hot or cold cup of chai.
2.Add a shot of espresso.
3.Stir and enjoy.

Chai Coffee
1.Add two tablespoons of chai to a cup of coffee.
2.Stir and enjoy.

Chai with Irish Cream
1.Add 3 Tablespoons of David Rio Chai to a cup of hot water.
2.Add one shot of Irish cream liqueur.
3.Stir and enjoy.
 (Also try other Liqueurs like Kahlua or Grand Marnier)

Holiday Chai
Try hot chai with a shot of dark rum, or add chai to a cup of warm egg nog.

Cold Chai Recipes

Chai On Ice
1.Add 4 Tablespoons of David Rio Chai to about 4-5 ounces of hot water and stir.
2.Pour over a cup of ice.
3.Some of the ice will melt from the hot water.
4.Stir and serve.
 (You may also prepare a pitcher of chai ahead of time, keep chilled, then stir and pour over ice when serving)

Chai fruit smoothie
1.Start with about 1/2 cup of milk or water.
2.Add 4 Tablespoons of chai.
3.Add one banana (or use ¼ cup of blueberries or any other fruit of choice).
4.Add about 8 oz. of ice.
5.Blend well until smooth.
 (Use Mango chai and fresh mangoes for a delicious, refreshing treat)

Chai Ice Blend
1.Start with 1/2 cup milk.
2.Add 5 Tablespoons of powdered chai.
3.Add about 8 oz. of ice.
4.Blend well until smooth.
5.Top with whipped cream if desired.
 (Try adding a shot of flavored syrup, espresso or chocolate powder.)

For restaurants using a GRANITA machine
 (Ratio: 1 pound of chai per 2 ½ Quarts water)
1.In a clean container, combine chai with 1 quart of hot water.
2.Stir or whisk until dissolved.
3.Pour chai liquid and remaining water into granita machine.

Baking Recipes

David Rio Chai Banana Bread
Ingredients
1/2 C David Rio Chai
1 Stick Butter (Softened)
¾ C Sugar
2 Eggs
¼ C Milk
1 ¾ C Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking powder
2 Bananas
Optional: You can add1/2 c nuts and/or a cup of chocolate chips to the above.

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. With a sifter or fine mesh strainer, sift the flour, and baking soda, baking powder into a large bowl; these are the DRY ingredients.
2.In a different large bowl, mix together the softened butter and sugar. Once mixed, add the egg, Chai and milk and mix thoroughly.
3.Put mashed bananas and mix well. These are the WET ingredients.
4.Next, add the DRY ingredients to the WET ingredients. Stir in nuts or chocolate chips and mix.
5.Pour in greased pan. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let the Chai bread cool in pan for 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Toucan Mango chai with White Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
½ C Toucan Mango® Chai
½ C or 1 stick Salted Butter (Softened)
1 C Sugar
1 Egg
1 ½ C Flour
¼ tsp Baking Soda
1 C White Chocolate Chips

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. With a sifter or fine mesh strainer, sift the flour and baking soda into a large bowl; these are the DRY ingredients.
2.A different large bowl, mix together the softened butter, sugar and chai. Once mixed, add the egg and mix thoroughly. These are the WET ingredients.
3.Next, add the DRY ingredients to the WET ingredients about ½ cup at a time until fully mixed. Stir in the white chocolate chips.
4.Place spoon size droplets onto a non-stick, ungreased cookie sheet. Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes until gently browned. Let cool and enjoy!
